Sources within the campaign disclosed that Kennedy has maintained consistent communication with Rodgers over the past several months. Meanwhile, Ventura’s name has also surfaced in discussions surrounding Kennedy’s vice-presidential considerations, according to reports.

Rodgers, who joined the New York Jets in advance of the 2023 season, faced a setback when he suffered a left Achilles tendon rupture, leading to his sidelining. Kennedy’s outreach to Ventura reportedly intensified following the former governor’s introduction of the independent candidate during a campaign event in Arizona.

Kennedy’s decision on his running mate is expected in the forthcoming weeks, aligning with state deadlines mandating the selection of a vice-presidential candidate to secure ballot access. In addition to Rodgers and Ventura, Kennedy has engaged in conversations with former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, and former presidential contender Andrew Yang, all of whom are reportedly part of a select group under consideration, as confirmed by the Kennedy campaign to The Hill.

Kennedy initially entered the Democratic primary race but pivoted to an independent bid in October, a move that has triggered apprehension among Democratic circles. Concerns have arisen that Kennedy’s insurgency might divert votes away from President Biden, potentially aiding former President Trump’s chances of returning to the Oval Office.
